Dr. Vivek Desai (PhD), Director

PhD in Molecular Biology, MA in Sanskrit, and BA in Philosophy

A molecular biologist from Princeton University in the USA, Dr. Vivek Desai has been sharing the relevance of ancient yoga wisdom in both the USA and India for over 17 years. He has received several prestigious awards for his research in science, including the Goldwater Scholarship and the Beckman Award. He has been trained in Sanskrit and philosophy in both ashrams and academic institutions. He is also an author, with a published book and numerous articles to his credit. His education in both East and West, combined with his training in art and music and rigorous study of ancient spirituality and modern science, has allowed him to develop the ‘koSha’ framework, through which Sharada Prabha imparts holistic education in the lap of nature.

Dr. Rakhee Thakar, Advisor and Pediatrician

MD (Pediatrics) and Ayurveda Expert

After her MD from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi and pediatric practice in the nation’s capital, Dr. Rakhee Thakar moved to Gujarat to serve the rural poor. The disturbing rise in lifestyle diseases in both rural and urban communities, along with the quest for a solution, led her to study Ayurveda. This unique combination of modern medicine and the ability to integrate it with the ancient science of Ayurveda gives her an edge in treating patients at Punarnava, a holistic health center, that she heads on the campus of Sharada Prabha. Health education, for both adults and children, fulfills her childhood dream of becoming a teacher. She is the Managing Trustee of Divya Pratibha Trust, the trust that runs Sharada Prabha.

Mrs. Rekha Sharma, Principal

M.Sc., B.Ed.

Mrs. Rekha Sharma brings extensive experience in both teaching and administration. Methodical and meticulous, yet progressive and adaptable, she ensures the seamless implementation of Sharada Prabha’s unique teaching methodology. Her dedication to the mission and constant engagement with both teachers and parents allows the vision and mission of Sharada Prabha to be lived and expressed each day.

Dr. Satyaraj Regmi (PhD), Sanskrit Teacher

Acharya in Sanskrit, B.Ed.and PhD in Sanskrit

Dr. Satyaraj Regmi received his early education in a traditional Vedic gurukul environment,where he studied Sanskrit, Vedic rituals and the chanting of the Shukla Yajurveda. After completing his B.Ed., he earneda PhD in Sanskrit grammar from Central Sanskrit University. In addition to Sanskrit grammar and literature, he also teaches Vedic chanting. Withseveral publications in both national and international academic journals to his credit, he brings scholarly depth to his teaching. His pleasant disposition and ability to teach the seemingly tough language of Sanskrit in a child-friendly way makes him very popular with the young learners.

Dr. Kshama Shah (PhD), Child Psychologist

MA and PhD in Psychology

After her M.A. in Clinical Psychology, Kshama Shah worked as a psychotherapist in many health centres and as a trainer in government health projects. She has also coordinated several community-based research projects funded by the government. In her PhD research, she found thatthe study of Sanskrit reduces stress level in students. At Sharada Prabha, she helps strengthen the bond between students, parents and teachers through teacher training sessions, and both student and parent counselling.

Dr. Mahesh Parikh (PhD), Psychotherapist

MD in Psychiatry and PhD in Philsoophy

A consultant psychiatrist and psychotherapist with a thriving practice in Mumbai and Gujarat, Dr Mahesh Parikh served as an Assistant Professor at the prestigious KEM Hospital, Mumbai and also participated in several research projects. His understanding of the mind was deepened by his PhD Philosophy on the Bhagavad Gita. He studied Sanskrit in order to independently interpret the message of this great manual of stress management, composed on the battlefield. Integrating his expertise in both modern psychology and traditional philosophy, he conducts workshops on stress management for corporates, schools, colleges, clubs, as well as on radio and television.

Dr. Amee Parikh, Vaidya

MD (Gynaecology and Pediatrics in Ayurveda)

A gold medalist from the renowned Gujarat Ayurved University in Jamnagar with an MD in Gynaecology and Pediatrics in Ayurveda, Vaidya Amee Parikh has over four decades of thriving clinical practice in Mumbai and Gujarat. Her keen interest in spirituality and passion for not just physical but the holistic development of children is reflected in the Shishu Mangal, her book on pregnancy and child care. Her research-oriented practice, public talks on Ayurveda and child-friendly approach have earned her immense popularity. She is the settlor trustee of Divya Pratibha Trust, the trust that runs Sharada Prabha.

Dr. Umesh Nagarkatte (PhD), Senior Teacher

PhD in Mathematics

Formerly the Chair of the Mathematics Department at Medgar Evers College of CUNY, USA, he taught mathematics in the USA for over five decades. A versatile scholar, he has authored many books on a wide range of subjects, from education to spirituality. He has also translated a series of lectures on the Bhagavad Gita and many Marathi devotional poems, including the Hari Path. A jovial and loving person, he teaches children with as much ease and enthusiasm as he teaches graduates. He has supported many educational endeavors. Along with academic education, he has provided value education to many over the years.

Oshin Parekh (PhD Candidate), Licensed Psychologist and Mental Health Trainer

MA in Clinical Psychology and PhD Candidate

Mrs. Oshin Parekh, a licensed psychologist, holds a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Rajiv Gandhi University and completed her licensing in 2024 from MJRP, Jaipur. She began her career with Sri Aurobindo Society, where she trained over 1,500 teachers across India. In 2023, she worked on a postpartum depression project with Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and Stanford University, USA. She also holds a Visharad in classical dance Bharatnatyam and a diploma in Dance Movement Therapy from Sancheti Hospital, Pune. She currently runs 7 Steps Mental Health & Wellness Centre and is pursuing a PhD on interoceptive awareness in autism.
